ZION AND THE COLORADO RIVER BASIN

Spend the morning exploring the human and ecosystem connections to water in Zion Canyon and the Virgin River’s place within the Colorado Basin. Topics to be covered include local water development and use, Colorado Basin geography and river management, and riparian ecology. This class will go to the Sand Bench area, a floodplain in the upper canyon, and possible other hydro-centric locations.

Participants should wear good walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the season and changing conditions, sunscreen, water, and snack. Optional items include binoculars and a field notebook for recording observations, impressions, notes, etc.

FEE: $45

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 3 by 12 noon on Tues, Apr 18 or class will cancel. If you’re reading this past the minimum enrollment date, the class is a go and you may still register by calling 435 772 3264.

AGES: 15 Years and up.
