GRAND STAIRCASE GEOLOGY

October 3, 2020 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Explore the Triassic and Jurassic layers of the Grand Staircase near Quail Creek State Park and the town of Leeds.  Learn about the ancient environments responsible for the colorful rocks, and the timing of geologic events that deformed them into their current configuration, with the potential to view dinosaur tracks, abandoned mines, and Native American petroglyphs.

Limited to 6 participants.

FEE: $65

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 3 by Tuesday, Sep 29, 2020 @ 12 noon or class will cancel. If you’re reading this past the minimum enrollment date it means the class is a go and you can still sign up by calling 435 772 3264.

INSTRUCTOR: Grant Shimer

AGES: 15 years and up

MEETS: 9 am at the St. George BLM office; 345 S. Riverside Dr.

ACTIVITY LEVEL RATING: EASY Flat walking of up to 4 miles. Combined short walks or one continuous hike.
