PIKA COUNTING AT CEDAR BREAKS

September 21 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm

Join us in the high country of Cedar Breaks to search for one of Utah’s rarer mammals, the American pika. We’ll talk about the pika’s haying behavior, their unique features including their social grid layout and why they are so vulnerable to heat. While having fun, we’ll be helping the park service keep track of this rapidly disappearing mammal.

FEE: $50

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 3  by 12 noon onTuesday, Sep 17, 2019 or class will cancel. If you’re reading this past the minimum enrollment date, the class is a go and you may still register by calling 435 772 3264.

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Geoffrey Gerstner

AGES: 14 Years and up.

MEETS: 8:30 am at the Cedar Breaks Entry Station and goes until about noon.

ACTIVITY LEVEL RATING: EASY Flat walking of up to 4 miles. Combined short walks or one continuous hike.
